Pick'em Right |
 |
Pick the right rubber for your
riding style. First, find a
wheel you like but remember
the pretty little logo on the
outside of the wheel is
gonna be gone after a couple
of rides. Sooooo size does
matter!
Street Style ***
49-55mm
The larger the wheel the
smoother the ride. So think
about where you ride. Nice
clean park, smooth concrete,
your tricks are dialed in go
small. Your riding ruffer
roads, dialing in tricks, go
bigger. Remember if your
always blowing the trick cuz
your not sticking the landing your not
progressing and your loosing
your momentum. Get the wheel
that is gonna help you
progress faster not the wheel
that is the coolest or
everyone else is riding. You
can change 'em later there
cheap enough!
Ramp and Vert 52-60mm
Again the larger the wheel the
smoother the ride. 56 and
bigger are more for a Novice or old school skater.
The 53-56m works great on the
ramp and park.
A riser pad will usually be
needed when the wheel is
bigger then 55mm and your
skateboard
trucks are low to med profile
Old School, Longboards,
Cruisers and Speed 60mm+
Smaller wheels are slower,
bigger wheels are faster.
Durometer measures the grip
of the wheel.
87a – Soft wheel good for
rough surfaces, longboards or
street boards
95a – Harder and faster
with a little less grip, but
still grippy.
*99a – Good speed and grip.
Good wheel for beginners,
street, ramp and park.*
100a+ – Hardest and fastest
wheel with the least grip.
*This is the standard wheel.*
